How I learned how to cook

I think my earliest memory of food was is animal crackers. I remember eating wagon wheels and catch up at my grandmothers house. My brother liked it with ketchup I could only eat it with butter I couldn’t imagine a catch-up on pasta. I must have some Italian in me nope I checked my DNA he says old you Ashkenazi Jew. But I knew not to put catchup on pasta. I remember eating marshmallows I remember lovingLoving pickles. There’s a story that I was found underneath the table with the bottle of pickles when I was 405.
My memories of my mother cooking was mostly for holidays the table would be set she really did a beautiful job for someone who mother didn’t even cook. We lived on Chinese food once a week Italian food once a week and seafood once a week all at restaurants the rest of the meals were kosher delivered hamburger auto broiler foil steak on broil foil barbecue chicken from the deli hot dogs. That’s about it even my grandmother used Campbell’s soup canned recipes for ThanksgivingString being casserole.

When I went to college with my friends nobody cooked so I remember putting together a recipe of chicken cacciatore from what I figured it was made of sauté chicken pour over a can of tomato sauce and put on top mozzarella cover the lid cook it it got rave reviews over pasta it was probably the best homemade meal of my friends that had so I was a rockstar in college no just kidding. My college days were the best days of my life and I could probably write a book about them but this book is about food and how I learned how to cook.

In College guy became a vegetarian and worked in restaurants. I worked in Italian restaurant before I became a vegetarian and learned how to debone chicken and make chicken cutlet Parmesan I learned how to make garlic bread and that was a good start. It awakens my interest in cooking. My roommate taught me how to make fried eggs with turning it over easy over with a plate. And I became good at that. I started dabbling in vegetarian cooking when I became a vegetarianAnd that’s when I learned how to cook with beans and rice and spices and I started learning about spices. I really didn’t know anything about spices other than salt and  pepper & paprika.
