Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner
I am having Amanda, Adam and two babies for Thanksgiving this year. I have a farm raised turkey from Kol Kosher foods and I am cooking it in a Reynolds bag and adding the delicious sides I had as a child; string bean casserole from canned string beans, Campbell's cream of mushroom soup and fried onions on top. Cranberry sauce using Grandma Vivian's recipe.
The house cocktail will be Willie Nelsons remedy and non adult sodas.
Dessert is two store bought cream pies, chocolate and lemon. Parve Babka. Coffee and tea.
What I thought was my grandmother's recipe until I saw it on the back of the Campbell soup can:
Green Bean Casserole
2 cans of cut green beans
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk
2 cups of crispy fried onions.
1 stir together the beans and soup with milk in a baking dish
2 cover with fried onions
3 bake for 10 mins
Cranberry Sauce
2 bags of fresh cranberries
1 1/2 cups of water
1/2 cup orange juice
2 cups brown or white sugar
1 tablespoon orange zest
1 teaspoon vanilla
1. Zest 1 orange and squeeze orange for juice
2. Combine the cranberries, water, orange juice and sugar together in a saucepan or medium heat, for about 15 minutes
