Thanksgivikah

I have always made Thanksgiving. There is a video of me at 28 in my first home with my 2year old singing on a chair with the turkey on the table.  Thanksgiving is the holiday that makes memories. Like my memory of my grandmother's Thanksgiving table covered with her home made; sweet potato pie covered with marshmallows, string bean casserole with creamy mushroom sauce covered with fried onions. It was only later as an adult that I found the recipe for her dishes on the back of cans. Yes I still make those recipes on Thanksgiving but I have added some of my own.
This Thanksgiving was special because Thanksgiving coincided with Hanukah creating a double reason to celebrate and two kinds of traditions to meld

Mixed nuts
Potato pancakes with cranberry applesauce

Buffet Dinner:
Turkey (carved on a platter)
Dressing (challah bread)
Mashed potatoes
Roasted Brussel sprouts
String bean casserole
Yams with Marshmallows

Dessert:
Apple pie with vanilla ice cream
Jelly Dough Nuts
Biscotti Liquer
Candy tray
